The Simple Nickel Test

Hold a nickel across the width of the slide at the muzzle. If the nickel is clearly wider, choose Small. If the slide is wider—or the comparison is very close—choose Large.

Small and Large describe the opening in the Handi-Racker—not the caliber, model name or marketed size of your pistol.

Simple, controlled operation

How Handi-Racker Works

Handi-Racker fits over the front of the slide. Brace it against a solid surface and push the pistol grip forward, allowing the slide to move rearward.

Place

Place the correctly sized Handi-Racker over the front of the pistol slide.

Push

Brace Handi-Racker against a firm surface and push the pistol grip forward with controlled pressure.

Release

Release forward pressure so the slide returns to its normal position, then remove Handi-Racker.

Safety comes first: Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction, keep your finger away from the trigger and follow the firearm manufacturer’s instructions. Verify the condition of the firearm before handling, cleaning or practicing.

How do I know which opening I need?

Compare the width of the slide at the muzzle with a nickel. If the nickel is clearly wider, choose Small. If the slide is wider—or the comparison is close—choose Large.

Does “Small” or “Large” describe my pistol?

No. Small and Large describe the opening in the Handi-Racker. A pistol marketed as compact may still have a slide that needs the Large orange Handi-Racker.

Why don’t you provide a complete list of pistol models?

There are far too many pistol models, generations and variations. A model list could make someone believe the tool will not fit simply because an exact model was omitted. Width is a more dependable way to choose.

What should I choose when the measurement is very close?

Choose the Large orange Handi-Racker. It is generally better to choose the larger opening than one that is too narrow.

What is the difference between packaged and unboxed?
